Abstract: This study presents a formulation for a three-dimensional eddy diffusivity for the morning boundary layer transition. The eddy diffusivity expresses the time variation of the capacity of diffusion inside the layer and employs the energy spectrum of the growing convection phase. The morning transition phase is the period among the end of nocturnal layer and the beginning of the well-established convective boundary layer, i.e., the phase with surface heat flux almost constant.
