R.S.C. Cintra, F.C. Magina, H.F. de Campos Velho (2005): Insertion and Quality Control of PCD Data for the CPTEC Data Assimilation System, Argentinian Congress on Meteorology (CONGREMET IX), October 03-07, Buenos Aires, Argentine - in portuguese.

Abstract: There are approximately five hundred Platforms of Collect Data (PCD) spread by the brasilian territory. These stations are hydrological, meteorological and oceanics, with meteorological information for several ends and several operators, the information are disseminated for these operators in gross format of reception, or for the internet page. The Center of Weather Forecast and Climatic Studies (CPTEC), a national metorological center integrated in the National Institute of Space Researches (INPE) use the PCD informations to increase its Numerical Weather Prediction. These information are preprocessed in meteorological format Binary Universal Format Report (BUFR) to database and they are prepared to data assimilation system. These stations are distributed in a vast area, complementing the net of conventional stations. These informations of PCD are consistent due to quality control presented. They can complete the space distribution of surface observations in Brazil. The goal of this work is to present the inclusion of PCD information with quality control in data assymilation system PSAS.
