Abstract: Reconstruction of inherent optical properties (IOP) profiles from in situ oceanographic irradiance data is presented. The inverse problem is formulated as a nonlinear constrained optimization problem. The objective function is defined as the square differences between experimental and computed data. A regularization term, based on the entropy measure of the problem parameters, can be added to the objective function by means of a Lagrange multiplier.
