Abstract: Two closure turbulent models are compared: a first order model, obtained from the local similarity theory and the Taylor statistical theory, and a second order closure model derived by Mellor and Yamada (1982). The results for 5-hour simulations show some differences between these models concerning the meridional wind intensity and the oceanic layer depth. Even for 150-hour simulations, run until the equilibrium state reached, similar differences were found.
