Abstract: Three schemes for solving the radiative transfer equation in hydrological optics are analized, for a typical costal waters. The studied schemes are invariant embedding (implemented in the Hydrolight computer code), the analytical Sn methdos, and the LTSn method. The comparison of the performance of these schemes is focused related to the profiles and the CPU-time. All schemes use domain decomposition, and they use the Fourier decomposition to obtain a set of azimuthal independent equations. The potential for paralellization of these schemes were studied, since we can address a partial set of the azimuthal modes for each processor. In the future, these codes will be paralellized in a parallel machine with distributed memmory, using a MPI (Message Passing Interface) library.
